New Bedford Whaling Museum
This documents lists the pay due to the crew of the ship Alfred Gibbs and the amounts paid to the outfitters for some crew members. The first page lists all of the crew, their rank, their lay and what is owed to them. Far to left, written in pencil is noted which company outfitted each crew member. The other pages list under each outfitter what was paid or is owed for the crew members. Interestingly, on page 1, written in pencil is the date 1865, yet records show that the ship Alfred Gibbs sailed with Captain Jennings as Master in 1869. This puts the date of the document into question.
